A prototype laser gas analyzer – developed, manufactured, and tested – is designed to monitor industrial processes and is capable of measuring the full composition of a multicomponent gas mixture without sampling. The new general-purpose distant-reading laser gas analyzer is a computer-controlled instrument complex for the remote sensing of gases and the prompt spectral analysis of diffuse radiation to determine the concentrations of the components in various industrial gas mixtures or streams with a complicated composition.

  OBTAINING HIGH OCTANE HYDROCARBONS BY CATALYTIC CONVERSION OF METHANE
Natural gas is a power source of the 21st century; its potential resources are 1.5 times larger than known ones and even in the second half of the next century there will be no problem with shortages. Recently there have been many research projects on the applications of natural gas. One of them is the transformation of the lowest alkans, above all methane, into hydrocarbons of a greater molecular mass to expand the raw base of ecologically pure motor fuel. We propose a “one step” catalytic conversion of methane initiated by methanol. The conversion was carried out with a small energy input, due to the configuration of an exothermic reaction of the disintegration of methanol, and an endothermic reaction of the transformation of methane.

  AN ENERGY-SAVING TECHNOLOGY FOR PRODUCING CERAMIC PIGMENTS
An efficient new technology has been developed for synthesizing heat-resistant pigments having the structure of spinel, rutile, garnet and other highly stable compounds. The new technology is based on thermofusion in the combustion mode using self-propagating high-temperature synthesis. It substantially reduces power consumption and dispenses with expensive high-temperature furnaces. The time needed for the synthesis of ceramic pigments is slashed to 30-120 minutes compared to the 6-48 hours that the conventional process requires. And instead of heating in high-temperature furnaces at 1200-2000°C, the exothermic reactions of thermofusion are initiated at room temperature.

  A NEW TECHNOLOGY IN GAS CHROMATOGRAPHY
A new technology of gas chromatography with pressure programming of the carrier gas has been investigated and for the first in the world been proposed, based on the gradient pressure movement along the column performing the function pressure - location - time and keeping Dp constant at the ends of the chromatographic column during the whole process of analysis.
