Typical backlight device for fishing consists of a housing, a float, a sinker, a light source and a power source. In the newly-developed design, a metal-air-type current source, with an air chamber and metal anodes, is used as a power source, an at least one photo diode of increased brightness is used as a light source. 

In the second modification of the device, the said power source is placed below water surface level and equipped with an air duct whose inlet is above the water surface level.

In the third modification of the device, the said power source is provided with a protective shield to protect the unit from moisture penetration. 

In the fourth modification, the said device is designed with a pocket-like air chamber, with gasdifussion electrodes located on the pocket opposite walls. Metal anodes made of magnesium or an aluminum-based alloy are arranged with a certain gap outside the pocket, in parallel with the said gasdifussion electrodes. 

In the fifth modification of the device, the said light source is above water surface level. 

In the sixth modification of the device, the said light source is under water. 

In the seventh modification of the device, the said light source is installed both below and above water surface level. 

In the eight modification of the device, protective shield is transparent and a light source, located above water surface level, is mantled on the said shield.
