Binoculars With A Built-in Image Stabilization System

Binoculars with a built-in image stabilization system (BS) provide a means of conducting steady and high-quality visual observations from moving transport facilities by compensating for external vibration and hand tremor.

The new binoculars differ from analogs in their wide field of vision, high magnification, and greater lens speed. They may be used for observations from swiftly moving transport facilities (helicopters, airplanes, motor vehicles, etc.), for observing such objects, and for observations in the conditions of poor illumination of objects.

The scientific and technical novelty of the binoculars consists in the use of a system of movable mirrors, which produce a high-quality image despite the changing spatial positions of the binoculars themselves and the observed object. In their principal parameters (see Table) and in their production and cost characteristics (estimated for an output of 1000 binoculars a year), the proposed binoculars have a twofold superiority over the best analogs in the world.

The proposed binoculars should be much in demand with law-enforcement agencies, traffic inspectors, coastguard services, aerial environmental monitoring services, search-and-rescue services at sea, and other consumers conducting observations in difficult illumination conditions and from unstable platforms. The multifaceted market for such binoculars and their low cost compared with the cost of their best analogs, which have inferior performance features, provide highly positive prospects for the profitability of their production.
