Insulation quality control device is used to control quality of electric cable and electric motor insulation at the wells equipped with submersible centrifugal pump units at environment temperatures down to -40°C.

The main components of the device are: electric battery, converter and analyzer.

Control of the device is accomplished with switch (1), mode operation switch (2), discharge button (3), "Cable Test" button (4), "Cable & Motor Test" button (5), light indicator (6), and sound signalizer (7). For high voltage insulation quality control (up to 10 kV) in resistance range up to 400 Mohm the first clip (1K) is connected with cable sleeve, and the second one (2K) - with one of the phase wirings. In the process of roundtrip operations insulation quality control is performed simultaneously by low voltage with maximum current 25 mA by connecting the equipment being checked to clips 1K and 3K. If insulation resistance is lower than minimum allowable value, then light and sound indications turn on. Pickup threshold is established in laboratory conditions using standard resistance.
