A method and compound for borochrome-plating of steel items in a fluidized bed

A technology applied today provides for boroning in a mixture containing boron carbide and consecutive chrome-plating. In accordance with the newly-patented formula, borochrome-plating is effected in a fluidized bed at temperatures of 650-1,000° C within 10-90 minutes in a mixture, additionally containing corundum. Chrome-plating is effected in a mixture containing chrome and corundum at temperatures of 900-950° C within 20-90 minutes.

The compound typically used so far for boroning steel items includes boron carbide, ammonium chloride and corundum, in the new formula is added with sodium tetrafluoroborat. The new mixture has the following composition, % weight:

boron carbide

10-20

ammonium chloride

0.01-0.1

sodium tetrafluoroborat

0.02-0.05

corundum
