A
method and compound for borochrome-plating of steel items in a fluidized bed
A technology applied today
provides for boroning in a mixture containing boron carbide and consecutive
chrome-plating. In accordance with the newly-patented formula,
borochrome-plating is effected in a fluidized bed at temperatures of 650-1,000°
C within 10-90 minutes in a mixture, additionally containing corundum.
Chrome-plating is effected in a mixture containing chrome and corundum at
temperatures of 900-950° C within 20-90 minutes.
The compound typically used so
far for boroning steel items includes boron carbide, ammonium chloride and
corundum, in the new formula is added with sodium tetrafluoroborat. The new
mixture has the following composition, % weight:
