Latest Inventions Fire-fighting and fire-prevention A METHOD OF AND DEVICE FOR FIRE DETECTION AND EXTINGUISHING
A
method of and device for fire detection and extinguishing
Today, a method of automatic fire
detection and extinguishing is widely used on vehicles equipped with internal
combustion engine and safety pillows. This method provides for automatic
detection of a car crash by means of blow sensors and for spraying of a
fire-extinguishing agent delivered from a container and regulated by a control
valve.
In the newly-patented method, a
fire-extinguishing agent is sprayed under a preset program with a help of a
processing/controlling unit (PCU) through numerous independently-activated
nozzles located in different parts of a vehicle. Carbon dioxide contained in the
vehicle container is used both as a cooling agent in a car condition system and
as a fire-extinguishing agent in a fire-protection system. A cooling
fire-extinguishing nozzle located in a motor compartment is turned on
simultaneously with an activation of safety pillows that protect passengers in
emergency. Activation of fire-extinguishing nozzles located in a car saloon is
delayed by a preset time in relation to a strike time determination. According
to the newly-patented method, liquid carbon dioxide is used as a
fire-extinguishing agent.
Equipment applied nowadays for
automatic fire detection and extinguishing in vehicles includes one or more blow
sensors incorporated in a system that detects blows and activates air safety
pillows and valves. The valves are connected with a motor compartment and,
possibly, car saloon and fuel tank, and control fire-extinguishing agent
delivery from the container.
The device, specially developed
to implement the new method in practice, additionally includes the CPU
incorporated in a system that detects blows and activates air safety pillows.
The CPU controls valves connected with a motor compartment and, possibly, car
saloon and fuel tank, through a pipe and independently-activated nozzles. The
nozzles in accordance with a preset time program spray liquid carbon dioxide,
contained in the vehicle container, which is also used as a cooling agent in air
condition system. Another modification of the patented device comprises
additional container filled up with a mixture of gases and argon; this container
is connected with another container filled up with a fire-extinguishing agent.
Combination of these two containers allows to obtain appropriate gas compound to
extinguish fire in a car saloon.
