Latest Inventions Transportation & communications A METHOD TO SUPPLY CURRENT TO ROLLING STOCK AT SUBWAY DEPOT, AND THE WAGON TO IMPLEMENT THE METHOD
A
method to supply current to rolling stock at subway depot, and the wagon to
implement the method
The method applied today to
supply current for rolling stock repair at a depot provides for supply of
hazardous (for people health) current to electric buses fixed on the depot
ceiling. Carriages with electrically connected flexible cables (rods) are moved
along the buses. The rods are equipped with sockets which are put on contact
fingers of wagon current-consuming devices (herein and after refer as consumers).
Upon testing consumers operation, current is delivered through the contact
fingers to the sockets.
Under the new technology, contact
fingers are placed in boxes containing safety devices. These safety devices,
located on both sides of a wagon under its body above the current trolley (collector)
level, are connected in series and prevent access to certain contact fingers. To
test workability, the safety device installed in the respective box is removed.
When the test is completed, the socket is removed, thus leaving space for
installation of the safety device in its origin position.
The second modification of the
method presumes application of shorter flexible cables (rods) than those which
are used in a working area. The length of shorter flexible cables allows to
easily put on the socket on the contact finger installed in the said box, and
prevents from putting on it on the contact finger of the wagon trolley.
Electric circuit of the wagon is
also described in the patent. Typical wagon, equipped with a trolley and a
contact finger installed on it, where the trolley is installed under the wagon
body on one side of the wagon and is made as a box with built-in safety devices
fixed in spring clamps, is now equipped with additional box with a built-in
safety device. Dielectric socket where additional contact finger is installed is
firmly fixed in each box. The axis of the safety device and the contact finger
lay in one plane. The safety devices are connected in series and located between
the trolley and current consumers. One additional contact finger is connected
with first safety device feeding circuit, and the second is installed after the
second safety device. The main breaker contacts of wagon motors are connected
with the feeding circuit before the first safety device (these changes improve
safety and efficiency of repair).
