Production of an industry Prospecting, production activity and waste handling of minerals Refining METHANOL
methanol
Industrial poison GOST 2222-78
One of the most significant
organic product, both in importance and production volume. In our company the
product is obtained through catalytic hydration of carbon oxides by hydrogen
using low-temperature catalyser SNM-1 under the excess pressure of 50 kg/sm3.

Structural formula |

|
Methanol is produced in 2 forms:
Crude and Rectified.
Crude Methanol, besides Methanol
- CH30H, contains water and dimethyl either and is mainly used in gas industry
to dilute the accumulations of hidrated in pipelines, to denitrify effluents and
other purposes. Rectified Methanol is obtained through cleaning crude methanol
by distillation in rectification columns.
APPLICATION
Methanol is used as semi-product
in many industrial syntheses. The main consumer is the production of
formaldehide, which is used to manufacture formaldehide resins, plastics and
synthetic fibres.
In oil-processing industry
methanol is used as selective dissolvent to clean gasoline from mercantanes and
also, in the extraction of toluene.
Besides, Methanol is used to
obtain a fuel additive with high octane content (which result in the increase of
the engine power and in the steep decrease of exhaust), in protein synthesis (protein-vitamin
concentrate), in the production of dymethylreftalate, pesticides and agents for
chemical protection of vegetation; in the production of acetic acid, hexamine,
carbamide resins, photofilm, plexiglass.
SECURITY REQUIREMENTS
Methanol is colorless, easily
flammable toxic liquid, with flash point - 8°C, self-ignition point - 436°C.
Range of ignition: 6,7-34,7 of volume fraction.
