METHOD OF SEWAGE PURIFICATION FROM PHENOL

FIELD: purification of natural and circulating water, and sewage.

SUBSTANCE: sewage is treated with hydrogen peroxide in the presence of Fe-montmoryllonite catalyst at hydrogen peroxide to phenol ratio of 7.5:1 which is 55% of desired stoichiometric amount. Ferric ions found on montmoryllonite surface by ionic exchange followed by calcination cause catalytic decomposition of hydrogen peroxide to form hydroxyl radicals which are potent oxidizers capable of destructing organic compounds, more particularly, phenols. Method makes purification process less durable, reduces specific consumption of oxidizer and retains high degree of purification of water from phenol.

EFFECT: higher efficiency. 2 cl, 3 ex
