DEFINING STAGES OF CHARGE MELTING IN ARC STEEL SMELTING FURNACES
including the measurement of
electric power consumption and isolation of high harmonic curves. The proposed
method differs from the customary technology by the fact that from the
non-sinusoidal arc voltage they isolate the seventh and ninth harmonics, measure
their magnitude and by the variation of magnitude of these harmonic curves of
the arc voltage depending on the expended energy they register the stages of
charge smelting and metal heating. The decrease of these harmonic curves up to
their full disappearance on the charge melting establishes the stage of add-on
loading, and their sharp ascent with the heating of metal shows the variation in
the degree of the arc screening by slag.
