NEW DECORATIVE
FACING MATERIAL
The new decorative facing material made from
foamed cross-linked vinyl chloride polymer and its production method has been
developed. Manufactured in the form of a honey-comb monolith, the facing
material is light and environmentally friendly. Its properties being similar too
those of wood and leather, give it an obvious edge on the foreign-made analogs.
The
new material can be used in manufacturing furniture, for interior lining of
automobile, aircraft, ships, railway cars, and rooms. The emulsion polyvinyl
chloride serves as its source material. The found processing conditions permit
foaming avoiding the use of commonly applied foaming agents, and cross-linking
without using cross-linking agents. Owing to the fact that the polyvinyl
chloride dehydrochlorizing points are dissipated at the molecular level, the
proposed method excludes any limitations of uneven foaming. The foaming level is
easily technologically controlled.
The closest analogs of the new material are
polyvinyl chloride films or sheets, natural veneer and leather.
The main properties of the new material are:
- it is environmentally friendly;
- self-extinguishing;
- antistatic;
- sound and heat insulating;
- corrosion resistant;
- biologically stable;
- adhesive by most commonly used glues;
- it withstands temperatures from -50° to +70°
C
- suitable for dry and wet cleaning;
- can be cut, nailed and stuck.
The high competitiveness of the new facing
material is ensured by the following factors:
- virtual absence of components (less than one
percent);
- low material consumption (density: 0.3-0.8 g/cm3);
- simple production technology (the production
line is based on conventional equipment);
- a range of properties similar to those of
natural materials.
The ratio between the production cost of 1 kg of
the new material and that of 1 kg of primary product (which determines the added
value and the profitability of the proposed technology) is 2.7, as compared with
3.9-5.5 representing the ratio between the production cost of 1 kg of polyvinyl
chloride film (used in furniture facing) and the cost of 1 kg of the used
primary product.
The estimated price of new facing material will
be $2.8-3.3 per m3. Compare prices for other materials: polyvinyl
chloride film (furniture lining) costs $2.5- 4.0 per m3; sheets of
foamed polyvinyl chloride (Simona) costs $13.7 per m3; imitation
leather costs $3.8 per m3; sheets of veneer from natural oak (unstained
and unvarnished) costs $1.6 per m3.
Chipboard faced with natural varnished veneer
costs $20.5 per m3, while faced with the new facing material it will
be $16.6 per m3.

The new material was exhibited at international
fairs (Birmingham, Novosibirsk and Nizhny Novgorod). Furniture manufacturers,
building and architecture companies were highly interested in the material at
its estimated price.
Based on the new facing material, the production
of roofing, flooring materials and other sheet-shaped building materials can be
launched.
Thus, the developed material manufactured from
foamed polyvinyl chloride has evident advantages in its economic indices, as
compared to best world analogs.
First batches of this material have been
industrially manufactured. The facing material and its production know-how are
protected by five Russian patents. Moreover, it is being patented in 17 European
countries.
OFFER:
- the sale of know-how, patent-afforded rights;
- the sale of know-how, patent-afforded rights,
the engineering of production line;
- the joint production of the new material in
Russia, the USA or in other countries;
- new material for sale.
