UNEXPECTED CONECTION of THREE MAJOR CONSTANTS: fine structure constant (α), number pi (π) and gold ratio (Φ).

Annotation

The simple and beautiful formula connecting major dimensionless constants is found: fine structure constant (α), number pi (π) and gold ratio (Φ), following from numbers Fibonacci.

The formula is presented as:

On the basis of this formula the new calculated value of fine structure constant (α) is received:

α = 1/137,036009823754683675307501201348…

The received results specify the geometrical status of fine structure constant, and also that all dimensionless parameters, which characterize the microworld and universe, are calculable in principle.

1. Geometrical status of fine structure constant

The researches of fundamental physical constants have shown, that known on today fundamental physical constants are very rigidly connected among themselves, they are interdependent [1]. It derives hope that any opportunity at last will appear though to be risen to the decision with conundium involving on a mysterious number called alpha, that does not give rest of physicist. The bases have appeared to consider, that the major physical constant - fine structure constant (α), also can be connected to other constants. If such connection really exists, with the account of dimensionality of fine structure constant (α), most simple ratio this constant should be connected not with dimensional, and to dimensionless constants. It especially is of interest, as the values of some dimensionless constants are determined with very high accuracy.

In physics we deal with two classes of constants - with physical constants and with geometrical constants. I am inclined to consider that of fine structure constant (α) not there is a physical constant, and is a geometrical constant. Therefore is of interest to find out what there is a connection at this constant with other geometrical constants. On my belief known connection of fine structure constant (α) with some physical constants (Planck constant, charge, speed of light) is secondary display of deeper interrelation of physics and geometry. The sources of such connection and role in it of mathematical constants by a modern science are not opened yet. On my sight, all dimensionless constants are very rigidly connected among themselves inside own family of dimensionless constants, and their connection with dimensional by fundamental physical constants is only consequence, the other words secondary display of general interrelation of fundamental constants. Here pertinently to refer to opinion А.Poincare that physics and geometry are completing each other. According to A.Poincare, on experience we always notice certain “sum” of physics and geometry [2]. If it so, similar “sum” of physics and geometry should be shown on an example of united constant basis as set of physical and geometrical constants. I consider, that as united constant basis for the description of the laws of a nature it is enough only of three physical and two geometrical constants. I managed to establish, that among family of fundamental physical constants there are only five primary superconstants, from which there are all other constants [1]. In five-constant ontological basis - three superconstants are dimensional, and two - dimensionless [1]. Three dimensional ontological superconstants are physical, and two dimensionless ontological superconstants - geometrical. Five primary superconstants have appeared to be quite enough, that on their basis to receive by calculation set of other fundamental constants [1]. Now becomes clear, that hundreds constants in modern physics have unreasonably the fundamental status, as they are not primary constants. Here pertinently to recollect Ockham’s rule, according to which it is not necessary needlessly to increase number of essences, and also Fresnel’s opinion that “ the nature is inclined to management by much with the help small ” [3].

On my opinion, on a role of one of geometrical superconstants claims of fine structure constant (α) [1]. I also consider, that the constants a and рi have primary ontological status. From these reasons very important is the finding - out of a role and place of fine structure constant (α) in family of dimensionless constants.

2. Conection of three major dimensionless constants

Interesting interrelation revealed between three major dimensionless constants is shown below: fine structure constant (α), number pi (π) and gold ratio (Φ). I bring this simple and beautiful formula. The found formula is presented as:

Where: Φ = Phi = 1,6180339 …

With use of number φ = phi = 0,6180339 … The formula is presented as:

As α and π have appeared connected with the gold ratio Φ, following from numbers Fibonacci, specifies participation of fine structure constant (α), and number pi (π) to the law of harmony in a nature. If the nature has not passed by this interrelation, two dimensionless constants should be quite enough for geometrical constant basis of the universe. For the scientists also there should be quite enough two dimensionless constants, that on their basis, with the help of calculation to receive other dimensionless constants.

3. New calculated value of fine structure constant (α)

We shall take advantage of these formulas for calculation of exact value of fine structure constant.

The value of number pi (π) today is known with the very large accuracy and already is calculated up to 206 158 430 000 signs (!) [4]:

Pi = π = 3,1415926535897932384626433832795 … (Exact).

The value of gold ratio (Φ) also is known with the very large accuracy and already is calculated up to 1 500 000 000 signs (!) [4]:

Phi = Φ = 1,61803398874989484820458683436564 … (Exact),

phi = φ = 0,61803398874989484820458683436564 … (Exact).

The so exact values of numbers π , Φ and φ allow, on the basis of the above mentioned formulas, to calculate value of fine structure constant (α). Value of number “alpha”, received by calculation below is given, where, for an example, 33 signs of this constant are shown:

Alpha = α = 0,00729735199737736169573530153098411…

The reciprocal value of fine structure constant (α-1) accordingly is equal:

(Alpha)–1 = α–1 = 137,036009823754683675307501201348…

When taking into account above-stated, there was all with conundium involving on a mysterious number called alpha because of that was not taken into account geometrical essence of this constant. In result, not up to the end the found out connection of physics and geometry has caused intricate problem of fine structure constant, which unsuccessfully tried to solve the outstanding scientists of the last century. And now this problem enters into 10 major problems of physics, which have received the name “ problems of millenium ” [5, 6].

The new geometrical status of fine structure constant (б) will allow in a root to change ideas about this constant and will take off from it a veil of mystery. When accepting geometrical essence of fine structure constant, it will mean, that all dimensionless parameters, which characterize the microworld and universe, are calculable in principle. Besides finally will clear up in what the connection of physics and geometry in the various phenomena of the material world consists and how it is shown and how this connection is submitted in constant bases of the physical theories. You see till now there are without the answer questions: what geometry has been applied by the nature and what is ontological basis of a matter?

I consider, that besides for the above mentioned formulas there are mathematical equations for exact and independent calculation of value of fine structure constant (α), as it has a place separately for number pi (π) and separately for a gold ratio (Φ). Their - these independent mathematical equations, it is necessary to search!

Conclusions

1. The very simple and beautiful formula connecting major dimensionless constants is found: fine structure constant α, number π and gold ratio Φ.

2. The formula has allowed to receive new exact value of fine structure constant.

3. The received results confirm the geometrical status of fine structure constant.

4. The geometrical status of fine structure constant specifies that all dimensionless parameters, which characterize the microworld and universe, are calculable in principle.

5. The geometrical status of fine structure constant specifies that there are mathematical equations for exact and independent calculation of value of fine structure constant (α), as for number pi (π) and for a gold ratio (Φ).

6. Fine structure constant and number pi are ontological superconstants, from which originate all dimensionless physical constants.

7. As a and р proved to be connected with the gold ratio Φ specifies participation of fine structure constant (α), and number pi (π) to the law of harmony in a nature.

8. The absence of the geometrical theory with application of two constants - number pi and fine structure constant specifies that geometry, which has applied nature, remains outside of a field of sight of the scientists.
