METHOD AND DEVICE
FOR HEAT TREATMENT OF LIQUID RADIOACTIVE WASTES BY FREEZING TO PRODUCE CLEAN
WATER
FIELD:
handling radioactive wastes.
SUBSTANCE: clean water meeting sanitary standards
and concentrated solution of liquid radioactive wastes suitable for recovery are
produced using methods of reconditioning. Freezing process is conducted in tank
concurrently with mixing up liquid radioactive wastes at linear velocity of
maximum 0.8 m/s while heating inner bottom of this tank with temperature
maintained between 0.5 and 1 C. Freezing is started as soon as daily subzero
temperature of at least -3 C is attained in at least 48 hours. Ice formed in the
process is accumulated in decontamination tank. Source solution of liquid
radioactive wastes is mainly frozen by natural cooling. Device implementing
proposed method has metered pouring unit incorporating coarse filter unit for
source liquid radioactive wastes, metering pump with valve and metered pouring
mechanism, conveying platform, lifting-and- discharging unit, storage tank
provided with salt-metering sensor, and decontamination tank with ice showering
unit. Decontamination tank has water final decontamination unit with pump, valve,
and ion-exchange filter, as well as clean water delivery pipeline. Tank is
equipped with radioactivity sensor. Device also has clean-water storage tank
with radioactivity sensor and concentrated radioactive solution storage tank
also provided with radioactivity sensor.
EFFECT: enhanced economic efficiency, reduced
power requirement and labor consumption. 3 cl, 2 dwg
