SUBSTANCE: polarizer has two optical elements of transparent isotropic
material and uniformly oriented liquid-crystal layer placed between their inner
effective surfaces, refractive index of its ordinary beam being lower than that
of each of optical elements. Uniformly oriented liquid-crystal layer is placed
directly between inner effective surfaces of optical elements and is composed of
liquid crystals based on 1-n-alkyloxy-4- cinnamic acids and
4-(trans-4-n-alkyl-cyclohexyl) benzonitriles.
EFFECT: enhanced degree of polarization. 1 dwg
