The known method of earthquake express-prognosis includes measuring of electric conductivity in time upon the excitement of a current in a controlled medium and a comparative analysis of the measurement results.

In the newly proposed methodology, a source of underwater is a controlled medium. Two electrodes of a measuring device are placed inside it at a certain difference from one another, and the electric conductivity of this water media is measured. The data obtained are compared with a reference value of this medium electric conductivity, which was measured under normal seismic situation. Thereafter, judgments on adverse seismic state are made based on the surplus of the measured electric conductivity value in respect to the reference value for this water medium.

In the second modification of the technology, the measuring device is equipped with a battery as source of power and with a power stabilizer. Moreover, the device is portable.

In the third modification of the technology, water medium temperature is taken into account during the measurement of the electric conductivity.

In the fourth modification of the technology, the depth of electrodes submersion and the distance between the said electrodes are fixed during the measurement of the electric conductivity.

In the fifth modification of the technology, a source of underwater, entering the surface, is used as a controlled medium.
